Sight Reading Progress

Posted on 26 April 2021

I've been working on the first William Leavitt sight reading book and it's helping my sight reading already.

I also practice notating exercises with Musescore 3 and on paper. Some of the exercises are further up on the neck than the Leavitt exercises, so I'm getting some good mental workouts.

I can read up to F without hesitation, but I don't have the higher notes memorized yet.

Since I know the lower notes up to F pretty well, I'm going to try to look at the higher notes and mentally drop down three lines and a space to find the octave. That might be faster than counting the lines.
